The Phoenix Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter's service area includes 4 million residents, that are 50% female with 24% of children being under the age of 18 and 6% African American. To align with its focus of Sisterhood Scholarship and Service, Delta Sigma Theta is required to create and maintain programs that focus on Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health and Political Awareness and Involvement.
The Financial Fortitude Initiative
The Financial Fortitude initiative is comprised of ten components and provides a collaboration of information from major economic corporations and other well-known financial institutions. The ten components include: Goal Setting, Financial Planning, Budgeting, Debt Management, Savings & Investments, Retirement Planning, Homeownership, Insurance, Estate Planning, and Entrepreneurship. The initiative helps members of the Sorority spread financial education throughout their local communities.
The dFree Program
The dFree program was created by Dr. DeForest B. Soaries Jr to help our communities learn, understand and live Debt Free lives. dFree is now a National Delta Sigma Theta initiative that aligns with our Financial Fortitude principles.
Dr. Jeanne L. Noble Delta GEMS Institute
The Delta GEMS is National initiative established for the continuation and expansion of the Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy. It is designed for teenage girls between the ages of 14-18 in grades 9 through 12, who have not reached their full academic potential.
Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy
The Delta Academy is a National program initiative of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. designed to enrich and enhance the education of young females ages 11-14.
Story Telling
A focus on education through literacy to help children grow their love of reading ultimately leading to their success in school by having key volunteers read books or tell stories
Scholarships
Phoenix Metropolitan Alumnae Chapter provides scholarship opportunities to students in Maricopa County who wish to extend their education beyond high school.
Kiva
Kiva connects everyday Americans who are willing to lend capital oversees to people needing small amounts of capital to start and grow their businesses. Because so many people around the world lack access to financial institutions, Kiva is helping to expand interaction with underserved and impoverished communities.
Tea Bag Projects
Working with the Original T-Bag company in South Africa by collecting used and properly prepared tea bags to send to the country so that artisans are able to create unique arts and crafts for sale to promote community and self-efficiency.
Koins for Kenya
Collecting coins that will be designated to one of our National PP&D International Awareness and Involvement initiatives in Kenya. The “koins” can be given to a program such as I Can Fly.
St. Jude Walk
PMAC participates in the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer, a 5K walk to raise money for the children of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The Bill Holt Pediatric HIV Clinic is the only one of its kind in the state of Arizona, providing unparalleled care and expertise for children and adolescents exposed to or infected with HIV. We understand the importance of caring for the entire patient and their family; focusing not only on the medical needs, but psychosocial needs as well.
American Cancer Society Arizona
PMAC supports the American Cancer Society through supporting local programs, services, and community events sponsored by the organization.
Delta Days At the Nations Capital
In 1989, the National Social Action Commission instituted Delta Days in the Nation's Capital, an annual legislative conference to increase members' involvement in the national public policy-making process.
Arizona African American Legislative Conference
Previously celebrated as Delta Days at the Phoenix Capitol this conference is a partnership with the Arizona Commission on African American Affairs. Through this partnership, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. has the opportunity to gain access to and disseminate information concerning a range of issues affecting the residents of the state of Arizona.
Social Action
Each of Delta’s programmatic initiatives has an advocacy component that is implemented under the auspices of social action when it is appropriate or necessary to do so. Under the auspices of the National Social Action Commission, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. continues to institute activities.
